Worker’s Compensation: What Is It?
Worker’s compensation provides financial compensation to employees who suffer injuries or illnesses related to their job. Common types of workplace injuries include:
• Back injuries or other musculoskeletal issues caused by heavy lifting or twisting
• Injury accidents stemming from unsafe equipment or hazardous working conditions, including traumatic brain injuries
• Repetitive motion injuries such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or Tendinitis
• Health issues arising from exposure to toxic substances or materials like asbestos
Compensation may encompass some or all of the following:
• Wage loss benefits amounting to two-thirds of your regular salary
• Coverage for medical care, including doctor and hospital expenses, medications, physical therapy, and travel costs to medical appointments
• Vocational rehabilitation or retraining assistance
• Compensation for any lasting disability resulting from the injury
• Reimbursement for living expenses if the injured individual cannot return to work
• Death benefits and/or funeral costs in the event of a fatal injury.
